Motoko Watanabe
"painting is my own visual metaphor of my inner thoughts" The fantasy of water, playing amongst the colours with the inspiration through nature and brilliance. Motoko was born in Kawasaki city, just southwest of Tokyo. Her father was also an artist, whose influences started to shape Motoko at a very young age. After studying economics at Sophia University in Tokyo, she departed for Singapore where she studied the Nanga style in the early 80's. she attended in singapore the Nang Yang Academy of Fine Arts for two years and then studied with Chew Choon, a prominent Nanga artist for over ten years. Motoko lives for her paintings, constantly exploring and finding inspiration everywhere. Her style reflects a perfect blending of technique with a keen sense of colours and brush stroke.
